Why train?

Training is an investment in your own skills. You may want to:

  • Get a qualification.
  • Improve your performance at work.
  • Make better use of your PC at home.
  • Improve your chances of getting a new job or promotion.

Whichever makes sense for you, you want to use the most efficient system to get the best results for your time. Reeltime College has been developed from the ground up with a single purpose; to help you develop real skills with modern technology, which you can immediately apply in the real world.

General benefits

Technology-based training has a number of significant benefits for people wanting to learn new IT skills, or simply to brush up on existing skills.

  • You can get access to training quickly and easily. There's no need to pre-book courses or take time away from work.
  • You can organise your training on a just-in-time model, so you train when you' re ready to use your new skills. Applying new skills straight away makes them easier to remember.
  • With control of your own training, you organise the training to fit your existing schedules, not the other way around.
  • You can train in private, and at your own speed, so you don't have the pressures of conforming to a class norm. and matching your pace to other people who may be going too fast or too slow.
  • You can tailor what you want to learn to suit your own individual needs.
  • You can save money compared with equivalent classroom courses.

Benefits of on-line learning

What's missing from technology-based training is human dimension of the tutor and other students. By going on-line, you can combine the best aspects of both approaches.

  • You use the technology part for the core of the course, then go on-line to the tutor for help with planning, solving problems and getting support. The fact that the tutor isn't physically present makes very little difference.
  • You can also go on-line to chat with other students, to share experiences and ideas, just as you might in a classroom (and during the coffee break!).
  • With an on-line course you can become a member of a virtual college; other members might be next door, or on the other side of the planet.

As an individual student, you are entitled to direct support from the Reeltime College tutors - right back to the Senior Tutor, Jim Gatten and the course development team headed by Peter Taylor.
